As a child, Margaret Sanger attended School 2, also known as St. Mary’s Parochial School. The school stands across the street from St. Mary Mother of Mercy Church, which Margaret’s family attended. The school is now known as All Saints Academy. It is worth noting that at the time young Margaret attended School 2, the school offered a mix of public and parochial instruction—it received public funding, but religious instruction was allowed outside of normal class hours. Such a system would be unconstitutional today.
