Birth of L. Frank Baum

Wizard of Oz author Lyman Frank Baum was born at a site in Chittenango on May 15, 1856. It is uncertain whether he was born in the house currently on that site (still a private home) or a previous building; if a previous building, it is uncertain precisely where on the property that building was located. In any case, the Baums resided here for only about two years after Lyman’s birth before moving on.
