Emma Goldman Speaks on 'Free or Forced Motherhood'

On December 19, 1916, anarchist and sex radical Emma Goldman delivered a lecture titled "Free or Forced Motherhood" at Rochester's Labor Lyceum. She advocated that women employ abstinence and, to the degree it was available, birth control so as to take control of their fertility and choose for themselves when to—or not to—become mothers.
